TPS Extension for six countries including El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Honduras

Temporary Protected Status (TPS) is a temporary immigration status provided to nationals of specifically designated countries that are confronting conditions in the country that prevent its nationals from returning safely. It protects them from removal from the U.S. and allows them to legally work in the U.S. TPS has been granted for numerous countries, but the countries whose citizens are eligible that I most often represent include El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Honduras. In September 2021, USCIS announced that TPS for nationals of these countries would be extended through 12/31/22. For months I have been receiving calls and emails from clients whose employers wanted to know if they could continue to work after December 31st.  I could only tell them that I expected this to be extended but could not give the employers a letter or anything else assuring them that the work authorization would be extended. We are delighted to be able to advise our clients and their employers that their TPS and work authorization has now been extended to June 20, 2024.
